Merry Run 2005

It’s Christmastime in the City, baby!

Jingle bells and the rumble of V-twins brightened up the Tokyo night on Christmas Eve again this year.

We had a bit of a late start, but we managed to spread quite a few smiles around the city anyway. I think GB at Riding Sun got it pretty much right, and I’ve said most of what I want to say about this run in last year’s post.

Merry Christmas and/or best wishes for the holiday of your choice to everybody!

(The rest of this post will be in Japanese for the friends we rode with. Enjoy the pictures!)

Merry Christmas everybody!

  2. Merry Christmas, Big Ben & family, and to all the “Merry Run” riders (I think I spotted GB/Santa and his girlfriend on “Denise” in one of the photos)!

That looks like such a blast — your pictures make me want to go out and buy a bike, ship it to Japan and participate in next year’s event! I wish people did something similar (heaven knows there are enough Harleys in Chicago!) here in the States.

  3. Love all aspects of your gaijinbikers website, Ben and Stinger! A great insight into your biking adventures and antics in Japan…sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face. Makes me look forward to coming touring in Japan, Tokyo-Hokkaido, in August. 5 of us are coming and taking 5 Uni-Gos up there. Great looking at your many Hokkaido trip pics and getting useful info from your trips. All the best for 2006. You never know…we might even bump into each other somewhere in the land of the rising sun. “Shiny side up”. Regards, David (Australia)

  4. langtry,
Merry Christmas to you too. It really was a blast, and great to finally meet GB, his lovely girlfriend, and Denise in the flesh (and steel).

    David,
    Thanks for the kind words.
If you want any specific advice about what not to miss in Hokkaido and such, don’t hesitate to drop us a line.

  5. Hey Owen,

Interesting website you have going. Looks like Japan is treating you decently. Congrats on getting married. When are you visiting the states again?

    Jim Meier

  6. Jim? As in Anime (“Buffalo Crisis” “SFAC” “Queen City”) Jim? Is that you? How’re ya doin’? I hope life is treating you well. Have you been in contact with Kevin Burke? I’d sure like to drop him a line, so send me his email address if you can! Happy New Year to you!

  7. Hey Owen,

Yeah its me. Just shot another email your way, along with Kevin’s email address. Have a happy new year.

  8. Jim,
It’s my fault that Owen hasn’t answered your mail yet. I recently set up the mail address that you sent mail to, and then forgot to tell Owen how to check it, so he only got your first mail (and Kevin’s) yesterday. Sorry about the mixup.
