It's Nobu's birthday, but Lin can't wait for the cake, so we practiced with a candle

Lin puts on a kimono for "shichi-go-san".(Literally "7-5-3")
This is a Japanese tradition where girls in their 3rd and 7th years, and boys in their 3rd and 5th years, celebrate their healthy growth.

今日は御柱祭の里引きがあるの。
セイヤーセイヤーって言わなきゃ！
Today is the Satobiki festival in Okaya, so Lin puts on her festival outfit.
This is part of the Onbashira festival, which happens every seven years. In May, for the main Onbashira festival, people ride giant logs down the side of a mountain.
The Satobiki is the end of the Onbashira festivities when the logs are dragged around the streets of the town.
お祭りまだ来ないねー・・。
When are they gonna show up?
来たー！みんな木を引っ張ってるね。
凜はお祭りの時にやる爆竹が怖くて固まってます。
There they are!
But since they are also setting off firecrackers Lin is too scared to get closer.
御柱に乗ってはいポーズ。
Once the firecrackers stop, Lin agrees to pose with Mommy and Grandma.

しましまタウンに来たよ。
手を叩いて回って一緒に踊ってはいたけど、表情はこの通り。
Lin visited Shima-Shima Town to see her favorite star, Shimajiro the tiger.
しまちゃんと握手したいのに凜ちゃんに気づいてくれない！
After the show, Lin wanted to shake Shimajiro's hand, but got lost in the crowd.
一生懸命手を出してるのに・・・。
Lin kept patienly holding out her hand,
but Shimajiro only notices the really aggressive kids.
しまちゃん・・他の子ばっかり・・・。
When is he gonna notice me?
やっと気が付いて握手してくれたよ！
Finally!
ぎゅーって抱っこもしてくれた！
ありがと！しまちゃん。
And Lin even got to hug him!
みんなと一緒だけどピースしちゃおっと。
ダディーまた来ようね。
